Over…so over. Her life was over. Her career was over. As the sheriff’s deputies tromped around the little cabin her grandfather left her several years ago, they catalogued her missing items, but all Sara Delaney could focus on was the one major electronic that was everything to her—her laptop. She wasn’t sure how she’d managed to swallow a barbell, but it felt like one was lodged in her chest. Her laptop was gone, along with her all she’d written over the years.

Gosh! That'd be my worst nightmare too! Intense six, loved the voice :)
Oh I feel sad for her, losing one's computer is major! But why do I have a feeling things will be all right in the end? Very evocative, excellent excerpt!
Every writer reading this just backed up her laptop and stored the back-up in a secure location! Very nice Six and I can't wait to read this story. Am enjoying "Into the Fire" now! Well done!
Eek! I'd be getting some superpowers and hunting down the thieves if anyone took my netbook!
That's why I use Dropbox! (Sorry, couldn't help it.) These are terrific. I can feel her sorrow and love the dumbbell metaphor. Great six.
Yikes! Nightmare, indeed! Her despair was illustrated really well, here. Nice six!
Great six....I could feel her despair!
I can feel her pain, and yeah, that would be a nightmare for me too lol
Really well written!
Great sentences and I'd love to see more. You've already pulled me in.

Oh, well I think I'd be freaking out just about then. Great six!
Oh God I felt her pain. Her laptop is gone?? Hope she had backup but I'm thinking that's a big "no."
Great six!
yeah which is why I back up - don't trust computers. Oh, you say, but you are using one. Yes which is why I don't trust them. Excellent hook
Yikes! Great story setup and hook. You've definitely caught my attention.
OH-no. I just got such a sinking, nauseous feeling. This vividly brings back my first big crash -- and the ms loss.
Yeah, as a writer, I am crushed for her. Terrific six.
Yikes, this will give me nightmares!! I will keep on reading this one.
Dropbox! That would be such a nightmare.
Eek, every writer's nightmare for sure. It would definitely feel like barbell in your chest.
Oh no. That would be awful.
OK. That put me into a cold sweat. I had a journal stolen twenty years ago and I still miss that thing. . . . .
OH, NO!!! Screaming full caps NOOOO! I feel her pain! Hmm, drop box, you may have just brought them some new clients with this six! I often email myself the ms in progress. Somehow I feel like doing that immediately! A most intense six for writers in particular!
Oh no - not the laptop! That is a nightmare, I feel for Sara. Fantastic six, Cherie!
I would be screaming!
Oh God, that is a writer's nightmare. I usually keep a flashdrive with my writing documents on my person just in case!
