I would like to feature authors and books in the future on this day of the week (so if you're interested in being featured, email me at, but until then, I have something funny to share.

My son's birthday was recent, and we threw a lazertag party.  Besides the numerous eight and nine-year-olds running around the party and disappearing right when we needed them, we had a great time.

One of the highlights was the safety tag that came with my son's WWE Rey Mysterio mask (yes, it is a real mask, and my son thinks it's the greatest gift ever).  Here is a list of the warnings on the safety tag:

  • Mask Care and Safety
    • Use sharp scissors to increase the size of eye holes for better visibility if necessary.  Make certain that you are able to see clearly when wearing the mask.  NEVER TRIM A MASK WHILE WEARING IT. (The all caps is theirs, not mine.)
  • Do not wear While
    • Driving
    • Smoking
    • Sleeping
    • Swimming
  • Be careful when crossing streets or walking upstairs.
Sadly, someone had to have done some, if not all, of these for them to become necessary warnings.  And, in case you were wondering, these masks do come in adult sizes.

If you like what you see on my blog, please "follow" me.

Happy writing!

Make It Better Mondays

As an almost published author, I have to say a BIG thank you to every person who helped me with my writing either through reading, critiquing, or just encouraging words.  Now, I'm hardly an expert, but one of my goals as a writer is to give more back than I take, so one of the features for this blog will be "Make It Better Mondays."  I'll post a sentence or short paragraph either from my work, submitted work, or maybe even published work, and the challenge for all will be to make it better.

So, here's the first victim--two sentences from my soon to be published short story, tentatively titled, Into the Fire:

From rehearsals, Shyann remembered that this was her cue to move toward her station and as she stepped forward, her heart began to pound at the reality of cooking one of her best meals in just an hour.  And as if that wasn’t enough pressure, she now had a bet with Luke that she had to win, hands down, or she would be forced to go to dinner with him.

Okay, rip it up, tear it apart, do what you can to "Make It Better."

Also, if you have a sentence or paragraph that you'd like for us to take a look at, either e-mail me or leave it in a comment on the blog.

It's Official!

I am officially signing a contract with The Wild Rose Press today for my short story Into the Fire.  Excited doesn't even come close to how I'm feeling about this new chapter in my life.  I will share more details as I figure them out.
